so i created a new profile whichĪllowed me to set up her email account successfully - BUT not access those older folders!! i guess i could try downloading a trial 365 and see if i can get it set up. SO - i uninstalled the 365 and installed her regular 2016 and got error msg that the database couldn't be opened because it had been opened in a later version (or something to that effect).

so the install occurred and they were able to get her email set up - but then it kept asking for activation - which was when i got involved and realized that they installed the wrong version of Office. They installed Office 365 which she was not licensed for. when they helped her to reinstall Office (and outlook), i have a feeling I am out of luck as the reason this happened was the user (under apple's guidance) uninstalled Microsoft Office because of extreme slowness on the computer. Repair the db but all mail in the 'on the computers' folders from the main profile was there. What worked here was copying the sqllite db from the main profile to the new profile and replacing the one in the new profile (the one in the old profile was named - i removed the. The mail is in a sqllite database - you need to get it out of there or merge it into the new profile.
